What better place to meet some of the most inspiring minds in the world of literature than at Schools Day. Each time we open a book our horizon expands and the authors that feature in this year’s program will take us to places real and imaginary while giving us an insight into their creative processes.

The 2010 program has a diverse range of authors, illustrators and thinkers discussing the ideas that interest them and feature in their work. Events are interactive and tailored to each age group, and there is a wealth of talent students can enjoy and tap into. Four international authors appear in the program alongside an exciting list of Australian performers. Don’t miss this chance to meet some of the brightest stars of children’s literature.

For more information on the sessions please download the Perth Writers Festival schools sessions PDF. For workshops offered in addition to the main program, please scroll down to the base of this page.

This year the Perth Writers Festival is offering highly motivated and talented students the opportunity to learn first-hand tips and skills from three creative writing experts. Each workshop focuses on creative writing and covers practical skills, including the different components of a story (characters, plot and setting), finding ideas and the different ways to tell a story.

Places are strictly limited as there is a maximum capacity of 30 students per workshop. We suggest teachers select students who are highly motivated and interested in writing.

Workshop 1 with James Roy, 11.30–12.30pm
Workshop 3 with Dianne Wolfer, 12.30–1.30pm
