Aernout Mik's panoramic video projection casts an intimate eye at airport life, shifting between security staff and passengers, exploring issues such as privacy, tedium, submission and the nature of authority.

Measured scenes move silently and seamlessly from transit area shopping to security staff on break to exhausted travellers submitting to luggage searches in which belongings are examined, prodded and occasionally torn apart. These images provoke a startling empathy as they offer insight into the communal phenomenon of modern travel and the vagaries of time.

Aernout Mik's video installations have been a regular feature in international solo and group exhibitions for over 15 years. The Museum of Modern Art in New York hosted an extensive solo show of his work in 2009.
