Amreeka reminds us of the importance of family and the sacrifices we make for those we love. Muna (Nisreen Faour) is a Palestinian woman struggling with life in the military-occupied West Bank. She wins a US Green Card lottery and decides to uproot herself and her son and head for greener pastures, leaving behind her mother and brother.

In Amreeka (America) she and her son live with her sister Raghda Halaby (Hiam Abbass) and her family in the Midwest. Muna faces prejudice at every turn and soon realises that Amreeka is not all that she had dreamed it would be.
