NOODLE

SUITABILITY: Year 8–12 Media, LOTE (Hebrew & Mandarin)
THEMES: Culture, family, identity, relationships
In Hebrew and Mandarin with subtitles

Director: Ayelet Menahemi • 90mins • PG

Miri Calderone becomes the reluctant babysitter of her missing housekeeper's son, an adorable five-year-old nicknamed Noodle who only speaks Mandarin. Unable to communicate, Miri searches for Noodle's mother amid the frustrations of bureaucracy and the distractions of job and family.

Ayelet Menahemi weaves a poignant, heartwarming tale about the bridging of differences and culture. With recent Israeli Festival favourites The Band's Visit, Lemon Tree and Waltz with Bashir, and now Noodle, there's no doubting that Israeli cinema is demanding world attention.
