SKIN

Director: Anthony Fabian • 107min • TBC
In English and Zulu with subtitles

During South Africa's Apartheid era, skin colour was a crucial factor in shaping a person's destiny. Based on a true story, Skin acts as a fascinating study on the absurdities of that system and the problems of racism.

Due to a genetic irregularity Sandra Laing (Sophie Okonedo), a black-skinned child, is born to Afrikaners Abraham (Sam Neill) and Sannie (Alice Krige). After being expelled from an all-white school, Sandra is legally 'reclassified' from white to black and then later, back again. She finds it more and more difficult to fit into an artificially segregated society for whom she is neither one thing nor the other.
